Exit polls vs exact poll for Tripura: Who got it right?
Many pollsters had predicted that the BJP will hugely expand its footprint in the northeast, posting victory in Tripura, but how many have got it right? Check here.
Many pollsters seemed to oscillate between predicting a clean sweep for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a hung house in the state of Tripura, where a new party the Tipra Motha may emerge as a potential king-maker in the polls, held a week back.

The BJP is heading toward victory in Tripura and has crossed the majority mark. The saffron party is leading in 34 seats and incumbent Chief Minister Manik Saha has also won in his Town Bardowali constituency.
Interestingly, all pollsters had predicted BJP coming back to power in Tripura, but some were little off the mark in predicting Left-Congress alliance seats.
Exit polls had projected TIPRA Motha party to win nine to 16 seats and beat the Congress for second place. But how many have got it right?
According to Axis My India, the BJP-led alliance will sweep the state of Tripura, winning 36-45 seats in the 60-member House. The Left, on the other hand, will win 6-11 seats, while the Congress won't win any. The Tipra Motha Party (TMP), on the other hand, will win 9-16 seats, according to the poll.
The Matrize exit poll, on the other hand, predicted 29-36 seats for the BJP-led alliance, 13-21 for the Left and Congress alliance, and 11-16 for the TMP.
The TimesNow-ETG poll predicted 21-27 seats for BJP+ and 18-24 seats for the Left. Meanwhile, BJP to retain Tripura with 29-20 seats, predicted Jan Ki Baat.
The 2018 assembly polls saw the BIP-led NDA win a comfortable majority, bagging 44 of the 60 seats. BJP won 35 seats on its own, ending CPM-led Left Front's 25-year hold on government. Congress, the main opposition party in the state since the 1970s, failed to win a single seat.
This is how top pollsters predicted:
| Exit Polls | BJP+ | LEFT+ | TIPRA | TMC |
| India Today-Axis My India | 36-45 | 6-11 | 9-16 | - |
| Zee News-Matrize | 29-36 | 13-21 | 11-16 | - |
| TimesNow-ETG | 18-26 | 21 | 14 | - |
| Jan Ki Baat | 29-40 | 9-16 | 14-10 | - |
