Exit Polls Barred By Election Commission From April 19 To June 1

The Election Commission of India has issued a notification prohibiting the conduct, publication, or publicizing of exit polls from 7:00 am on April 19 to 6:30 pm on June 1, coinciding with the voting period for the upcoming Lok Sabha and four state assembly elections.

The notification also clarifies that, as per the Representation of the People Act, the display of any election-related material, including the results of opinion polls or any other survey, on any electronic media is prohibited during the 48-hour period leading up to the conclusion of the poll.

In addition to the Lok Sabha elections, the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim will be holding assembly elections. Furthermore, bye-elections for 25 assembly constituencies in 12 states will also take place during this period.
