Exclusive: BJP Wants To Change The Demography Of J&K, But They Won't Succeed
As Jammu and Kashmir gets ready for its assembly poll results, National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah voiced strong criticism of the BJP and its handling of the state, particularly the controversial abrogation of Article 370.
In an exclusive interview with OneIndia, Abdullah expressed his shock at the government's actions, especially after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi prior to the 2019 decision. "I was shaken when I met the Prime Minister. He didn't say anything about the troop movements in Kashmir, nor did he respond when I asked if they were preparing for a conflict. The Amarnath Yatra was abruptly stopped under the guise of lies about finding a gun. Everything seemed planned," Abdullah remarked.

The NC leader also singled out former Governor Satyapal Malik, who was in office during the Article 370 revocation. According to Abdullah, Malik was kept in the dark about his own powers. "Satyapal Malik himself regrets it. In an interview with Kapil Sibal, he admitted that he wasn't informed about what was happening. The assembly should have been in session for such a decision, but they planned everything-from Mehbooba Mufti's dismissal to Malik claiming the fax machine wasn't working, preventing government formation. It was all premeditated."

Abdullah further expressed concern about the BJP's future plans if they retain power, particularly their alleged attempts to alter Jammu and Kashmir's demographic makeup. "I fear they want to change the state's demography by bringing outsiders to settle here, erasing its Muslim majority. They live in a cuckoo world if they think this will happen," he stated emphatically.
