Congress Leader Attributes Exam Cancellations to Prime Minister's Incompetence

In a recent outburst, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the frequent cancellations of examinations across the country, attributing it to what he describes as "total incompetence." This statement was made in the context of the postponement of the NEET-PG examination, initially scheduled for Sunday. The decision to delay the exam was described as a precautionary step amidst allegations questioning the integrity of various competitive examinations.

Exams Cancelled Due to PMs Incompetence

Additionally, the Joint Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC-NET) for June was also postponed due to "unavoidable circumstances and logistic issues," just a day before its announcement. Furthermore, the UGC-NET exam set for Wednesday was cancelled after concerns were raised about its integrity. These series of exam cancellations have sparked widespread debate and concern among stakeholders.

The opposition has also raised alarms over the medical entrance exam NEET-UG, with results announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 4. Allegations of irregularities in this exam have led to an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

In response to these controversies, the Centre took decisive action by removing NTA Director General Subodh Singh from his position. A seven-member committee led by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan has been established to review the agency's operations and suggest reforms for future examinations.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan addressed these concerns, specifically denying any leak in the CSIR-UGC-NET paper. He attributed the postponement to logistical challenges and assured that any individual found responsible for misconduct in NEET-UG would face consequences.

The sequence of events has ignited a debate on the integrity and efficiency of India's examination systems, with calls for swift and transparent reforms to restore confidence among students and educators alike.
