Ex-Congress MLA scotfree even after rape FIR, ignores summons

New Delhi, Sept 30: Former minister Babu Lal Nagar is scot free even after shocking evidences of rape have been found against him. Although the rape case has been registered against him, he took the privilege of discarding the notices issued to him.

According to the law, it is up to the investigating officer to arrest a personcharged for rape whenever it deems fit. However, several cases have occured when the accused have been arrested just after the FIR.

No strong action has ben taken against Nagar till now, even though he did not respond to four notices sent to him by the CID. Law practioners, however, say, "When an FIR is recorded and prima facie it appears that the case is against a person, then suitable action is taken against the accused. Moreover, Nagar has jumped CID's notices also wherein the CID should take strict action.
The victim has named Nagar in the isatgasa (complaint) and in her statement under 164 also. It is beyond reasoning why Nagar is moving easily from one city to another."

Video footage of aide found bribing the victim with Rs 2 crore

In this case, however, it is over a fortnight since the incident happened on 11th September and yet no action has been taken. Furthermore, it was backed by a shocking video footage released today, which clearly shows Nagar's aide bribing the victim with Rs 2 crore to keep mum.

Recounting her encounter with the minister, the victim said,"the minister called me to his house and locked me in a room and raped me." The FIR was lodged on 18th September.
