Judicial Custody for Ex-BJP MLA's Supporters Following Violent Incident and Gujjar Mahapanchayat Cancellation
A local court has placed four supporters of former BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion in 14-day judicial custody. They are accused of firing at the office of sitting MLA Umesh Kumar. Champion himself was also sent to judicial custody a day earlier in connection with the same incident.

Champion and his followers allegedly attacked Kumar's office on Sunday, firing multiple shots in broad daylight. The four supporters detained on Tuesday are Kuldeep, Ankit Arya, Monty Panwar, and Ravi. A video showing Kumar, an Independent MLA, reacting angrily with a pistol near Champion's house has circulated widely online.
Judicial Actions and Public Reactions
Both Champion and Kumar were taken into custody on Sunday night. However, while Champion was sent to judicial custody on Monday, Kumar received bail. This decision led to protests from Champion's supporters, who claimed the actions were biased.
On Tuesday, four of Kumar's supporters—Syed Ali, Shakib, Abhishek, and Sunny Kumar—were also granted bail. Meanwhile, a planned mahapanchayat by Gujjars to protest against the perceived bias in actions against Champion was called off.
Community Response and Future Plans
The All India Gujjar Mahasabha had planned a large gathering in Laksar on Wednesday. Thousands of Gujjars from across India were expected to attend. However, the event was cancelled following appeals from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Champion himself.
Pramod Khari, the state president of the All India Gujjar Mahasabha, stated that after Champion requested a postponement, it was decided to reschedule the gathering for a later date.
The situation highlights ongoing tensions between political figures and their supporters in the region. The legal proceedings and public reactions continue to unfold as authorities manage the aftermath of the incident.
