Ex-Air Force Personnel Sentenced To 20 Years In Jail For Raping His Daughter For 11 Years

In the latest development, a Dehradun court has sentenced a former Air Force personnel to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for repeatedly raping his minor daughter over several years, starting when she was just six years old.

The convict reportedly told the child that the abuse was normal and claimed it was how a father shows love to his daughter.

In its judgment delivered on Wednesday, the court strongly condemned the heinous crime, stating that the acts severely damaged the minor's physical and mental well-being. Special POCSO Judge Archana Sagar also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the convict and ordered him to pay Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the victim.

The court noted that the minor was threatened by the convict to remain silent about the abuse. In November 2023, when the victim was 17 years old, she finally gathered the courage to inform her mother, who filed an FIR the same day. The former IAF personnel was subsequently arrested.
