In pictures: Enthusiasm grips Delhi University as students exercise their franchise
New Delhi, Sept 13: Since the first time Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections took place in 1954, caste politics has always played a major factor in the DUSU polls. And this time the students organisations are trying to ride high on the factors like caste, Northeast students' issue and as always better facilities for the students of the University.
In maximum elections, the candidates fielded by BJP-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Congress backed National Students' Union of India (NSUI) have been from the Gujjar or Jat community and this year too, NSUI and ABVP have fielded two Jat candidates and one Gujjar candidate to win these elections.
After winning three of the four central panel posts in the DUSU elections last year, this time ABVP is eying a clean sweep and All India Students' Association (AISA) will fight to open its account.
All the organisations are trying to woo the students by either raising the issue of scrapping the controversial 4-year Undergraduate course or by promising the North eastern students better facilities and swift redressal of their grievances.
Only results will tell whose efforts will make them win. Lets take a look at the election fever that gripped the students of Delhi University.
