Amit Shah Calls for Minimum 10% Increase in Voting at Each Booth for Maharashtra Elections

Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged BJP members to boost voter turnout by 10% at each polling station for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. During a party meeting in Nagpur, Shah emphasized collaboration with Mahayuti alliance partners, according to a leader present. He also mentioned that the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024, focusing on Waqf property management and misuse, will soon be passed in Parliament.

Amit Shah Urges 10% Voting Increase

On his two-day Maharashtra visit, Shah engaged with key officials from all 62 Vidarbha region assembly constituencies at Suresh Bhatt hall in Nagpur's Reshimbagh area. He highlighted achievements of the Narendra Modi government, such as revoking Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, constructing the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and abolishing triple talaq.

Vidarbha's Role in BJP's Strategy

Former Rajya Sabha member Anil Bonde noted Shah's emphasis on Vidarbha's importance for BJP's success in the Maharashtra elections. "Amit Shah showed us the path to victory. He said that the path passes through the Vidarbha region. He has given a clear direction for the party workers ahead of the assembly polls," Bonde told a Marathi news channel. Out of 288 state assembly seats, Vidarbha holds 62.

A BJP functionary explained that after setbacks in Lok Sabha polls, Shah urged party workers to intensify efforts and connect with voters through government schemes. "Shah asked the party functionaries to show similar enthusiasm for the candidates of allies and give a strong message that we all are united. He also said that if someone does not get a ticket in the 2024 assembly polls, it is not the end of his political career," he said.

Electoral Goals and Coalition Efforts

In this year's Lok Sabha elections, BJP secured only two out of ten seats in Vidarbha. In contrast, they won 29 out of 44 contested seats in the 2019 assembly elections and 44 seats in Vidarbha during the 2014 elections. State BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis attended the meeting, though senior leader Nitin Gadkari was absent due to other commitments.

BJP supporters warmly welcomed Shah at Nagpur airport. Later, speaking at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Shah set a target for party workers to win 30 out of 46 seats in Marathwada, central Maharashtra. A BJP leader stated that Shah addressed workers at Rukhmini Auditorium of MGM University.

Strengthening Party Foundations

The Union leader instructed party members to fortify their presence down to booth levels and confirmed that BJP will contest elections as part of the Mahayuti coalition. This strategic approach aims to ensure unity and strength within the alliance as they prepare for upcoming electoral challenges.

The meeting underscored BJP's focus on consolidating its position across Maharashtra by leveraging regional strengths and fostering cooperation among alliance partners. The emphasis on voter engagement and strategic planning reflects their commitment to achieving electoral success in the state.
