Enforcement Directorate Summons TMC Leader Mahua Moitra For Questioning On March 11

The Enforcement Directorate on Monday issued a fresh summon to Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra in relation to the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). According to the reports, the investigating agency has called the expelled MP for questioning on March 11.

The ED had called Mahua Moitra earlier on February 19 for grilling and to record her statement under FEMA, but she did not appear. Now almost after three weeks, the investigating agency summoned her again.

Earlier, talking to the media, an official related to the case said Mahua Moitra has been booked under the FEMA after a few foreign transactions including undisclosed ones came to light and now a probe has been initiated.

For the unversed, TMC leader Mahua Moitra is already facing a preliminary inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with cash-for-query allegations. She was expelled by Lok Sabha's Ethics panel in relation to the same case.

At that time, Moitra reacted on social media site X saying: "Neither has Lok Pal uploaded any referral order on website as per Lokpal Act & nor has CBI put out anything official. "Sources" telling journos as per usual media circus. Hope ₹13,000 crore Adani coal scam merits CBI PE before my witchhunt."
