Encounter in Baramulla district

Srinagar, Apr 2: A gunbattle broke out between militants and security forces in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Thursday.

Acting on a tip off about presence of militants in Kunzer village, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area, a police official said. [Jammu and Kashmir under attack: There is a pattern to it]

He said a gun battle broke out when militants opened firing on the security forces, who retaliated. [Pakistani militant arrested in Baramulla]

No casualties have been reported in the incident so far, the official said, adding intermittent exchange of firing was going on between the two sides.
