Embarrassment for BJP: Party functionary held on murder charge

Coimbatore, Mar 27: A state-level BJP functionary was arrested today for his alleged involvement in the murder of a realtor over some property dispute.

State BJP Executive member Elango, among the six persons including a woman councillor, booked in connection with the murder was arrested during a vehicle check at nearby Thudiyalur, police said.

Besides Elango, Police have registered cases against councillor Vatsala, her husband Varadharaj, Kumar, Sethilkumar and Kanakaraj for the murder of Tirupur-based real estate businessman last evening.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that Arumugam and Varadharaj had some dispute over property and wordy quarrel led to the murder. Further investigations was on, they said.
