Seventeen Candidates Arrested for Using Electronic Devices During NVS Competitive Exams in Dehradun
Police arrested 17 candidates and seized suspicious electronic devices during the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) competitive exams. These exams, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), took place on Sunday at two centres. The arrests followed two separate complaints, according to police reports.

Pankaj Nautiyal, Principal and Centre Superintendent of Social Baluni Public School, reported an incident at Patel Nagar police station. During the first shift of the NVS/JSA exam, a candidate was found with an electronic device hidden in their shoes. This led to further investigations.
Electronic Devices Seized
In the second shift of the NVS/Lab Attendant exam, seven more candidates were caught with electronic devices. Following Nautiyal's complaint, two FIRs were filed under relevant sections. Consequently, eight candidates were arrested. The accused include Saurabh Yadav, Robin, Akshay Mann, Neeraj Mann, Manish Malik, Aman, Ankush, and Mohit Kumar from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Meanwhile, RS Bisht, Centre Superintendent of Doon International School, lodged another complaint. During the second shift of the NVS/Lab Attendant exam at his centre, nine candidates were found with electronic devices. This prompted a case registration at Kotwali Dalanwala police station.
Arrests Made
The police identified and arrested candidates named Madanala Pawan, Rakesh, Ankur Grewal, Illumla Venkatesh, Sahil Kheri, Kapil, Akhil, Vishal Singh, and Jyoti based on Bisht's complaint. The investigation is ongoing as officials continue questioning the accused to gather more information about the incident.
The authorities are taking these cases seriously to ensure fairness in competitive examinations. Such incidents highlight the challenges faced in maintaining exam integrity and the measures needed to prevent future occurrences.
