Election Commission Approves Aam Aadmi Party's Campaign Song After Modifications

The Election Commission on Saturday approved the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) campaign song for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Earlier, the poll body barred AAP's theme song as it allegedly mentioned Central agencies, which breached the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Following EC's directions, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party modified its campaign song and has launched now.

According to the reports, AAP MLA Dilip Pandey has penned and voiced the party's campaign song titled 'Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se'.

An Election Commission official told the media that the Delhi CEO's office has approved the Aam Aadmi Party's Lok Sabha elections 2024 campaign song after modifications.

"Truth can be troubled, not defeated! "Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se Denge" is not just a campaign song of AAP but it is the essence of the sentiment going on in the minds of the common people of the country," said MLA Dilip Pandey in a post on X.

Earlier, when the Election Commission gave notice to AAP, senior party leader and Delhi Minister Atishi in the history of India elections, it is the first time that the poll body has imposed a ban on a party's campaign song. She clarified that the song carries real incidents and factual evident videos, underlining that it does not violate the MCC.

However, the Election Commission said that the song violates the poll body's advertising guidelines.

She also claimed that the BJP is playing dirty politics and using agencies against the Delhi ruling party.

"If the BJP does dictatorship, it is right. But if someone talks about it, that is wrong. This shows that democracy is in danger. I want to urge the EC to act on the (poll code) violations committed by the BJP and not stop campaigns of opposition parties," Atishi said.

The national capital will go to polls in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 on May 25.
