#EkMutthiGulaal: AAP MP Ashok Mittal Urges Citizens to Celebrate Holi in the Name of Martyrs

A message of patriotism has emerged from Punjab ahead of Holi, as Ashok Mittal, Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), urged citizens to dedicate this year's festival of colours to the nation's martyrs.

In a statement issued from Chandigarh on March 3, Dr. Mittal said that Holi should not only be a celebration of joy but also a moment of gratitude toward the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country. He emphasised that every festival celebrated in a free and secure India is possible because of the courage and ultimate sacrifice of these fallen heroes.

Calling for a symbolic gesture, he appealed to people across the country to throw a handful of red gulal into the sky while celebrating Holi - as a tribute to the martyrs. According to him, this small act can serve as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by soldiers standing at the nation's borders to ensure peace and safety for millions.

Dr. Mittal described the initiative not just as an emotional appeal but as a nationwide message of unity and responsibility. "Colours are not only about celebration; they also represent duty and remembrance," he said, adding that if every household joins in, the gesture could evolve into a meaningful public movement.

He made a special appeal to the people of Punjab, a state known for its long tradition of bravery and sacrifice. He noted that Punjab has given countless brave sons and daughters to the nation, and its soil carries a legacy of valour. Therefore, he said, it would be fitting for one colour of Holi this year to be devoted to the memory of martyrs.

Encouraging people to participate in the #EkMutthiGulaal campaign, Dr. Mittal said it is more than just a hashtag - it is a sentiment of gratitude and respect for the nation. Extending Holi greetings, he concluded that along with colours, hearts too should be filled with the spirit of patriotism, unity and remembrance.
