Eid-Ul-Fitr 2023 to be celebrated on April 22 in India
The crescent moon for the Islamic month of Shawwal was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening, therefore clerics announced that the festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr 2023 will be celebrated on Friday (April 21), and will last for four days.

Generally, the Islamic community in India celebrates the festival a day later than in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday (April 22) in India.
However, Muslims in Kerala will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday (April 22). The Kerala government has also declared April 22 as a government holiday for Eid, although according to the calendar, the holiday for Eid was on Friday, April 21.
Eid-Ul-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims around the globe to mark the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramzan. Ramzan is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad, according to Islamic belief.
Eid ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan. On this day, Muslims flock to mosques and eidgahs across the country to offer special prayers, exchange greetings and take part in feasts with family and friends.
The festival is celebrated by sharing a delightful dish Seviyan (Vermicelli). All these variants can be used in the dish called Sheerkurma, which is also made on Eid and distributed among friends and relatives.
