In view of the upcoming Bakri Eid, an order was issued by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday, forbidding the offering of Namaz on streets and banning animal sacrifice at undesignated places. It was stated that action would be taken if someone was found slaughtering animals forbidden for sacrificial rituals.

Yogi Adityanath was quoted by news agency IANS as saying, "The spot for sacrifice on Bakrid should be marked in advance. There should be no sacrifice at other spots. The sacrifice should not be made at disputed or sensitive places. Officials should ensure that banned animals are not sacrificed. A systematic action plan for the disposal of waste after sacrifice should be launched in all districts," as reported by ABP news.

UP CM Issues Bakri Eid Orders

Administration officials and the police were instructed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to prevent any untoward incident that could hurt religious sentiments.

Orders were given by Yogi Adityanath for the police to step up security and maintain a strong grip on law and order in the state during the upcoming festive month. Ganga Dussehra will be celebrated on June 16 by Hindus, while Muslims will celebrate Bakri Eid on June 17. Hindu devotees will later embark on the Kanwar Yatra on July 22, as reported by ABP.

The facilities for devotees were directed to be kept ready, and preparations for the festivals were reviewed by the Chief Minister. Yogi Adityanath also noted that the 'Bada Mangal' festival will be celebrated on June 18, followed by International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21. Events like Muharram (July 17) and Kanwar Yatra in July will follow, making this period sensitive from a law and order perspective. The government and administration need to remain active 24×7.

Regarding Bakri Eid, the UP government's order stipulated that the place for sacrifice should be marked in advance. Sacrifice should not be conducted at disputed or sensitive sites, and it must be ensured that no animal forbidden for slaughter is sacrificed anywhere. Each district should develop a systematic action plan for waste disposal after sacrifice, as per the media report.

The order also specified that Namaz should be offered at designated sites only, in accordance with prevailing traditions. Namaz should not be offered by blocking roads. While emphasizing the need to respect faith, the order discouraged the encouragement of new traditions. Strict action should be taken against anyone attempting to take the law into their own hands.

In preparation for Ganga Dussehra, Yogi instructed that a cleanliness drive should be conducted in the state from June 15 to 22. The ghats of the Ganga River should be cleaned and decorated ahead of the festival, with designated bathing areas demarcated. For safety measures, divers, Pradeshik Armed Constabulary's flood unit, and NDRF and SDRF teams will be deployed. Yogi Adityanath emphasized the necessity to avoid unnecessary power cuts during this period.
