Eid Mubarak! Check City-Wise Eid Namaz Timings in Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Bengaluru And More
India is celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 on Monday, March 31, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The crescent moon was sighted on March 30, officially announcing the arrival of Shawwal-the Islamic month that begins with Eid celebrations.
This year, Ramadan, which started on March 2, lasted 29 days. Lucknow was the first city to confirm the moon sighting on Sunday evening, followed by an announcement from Delhi's Jama Masjid deputy Imam, Syed Shaban Bukhari.

Eid Namaz
A significant part of Eid-ul-Fitr is the special Eid Namaz, offered in congregation at Eidgahs-large open grounds designated for prayers-or mosques. This prayer is in addition to the five daily prayers observed by Muslims.
Eid Namaz is held shortly after sunrise, though exact timings vary from city to city. Some mosques arrange multiple prayer sessions to accommodate worshippers.

Significance of Eid Namaz
Eid Namaz is an essential part of the celebrations, performed in congregation and led by an Imam. The prayer consists of two rakats (units) followed by a sermon (khutbah), which covers both religious and social themes.
This special namaz must be completed before noon and cannot be performed at home. Before offering prayers, Muslims are encouraged to give Zakat al-Fitr-a charitable donation-to ensure that the underprivileged can also partake in the festivities.
Wishing everyone a joyful and blessed Eid Mubarak!
