Eid Date 2025: March 31st or April 1? When is Eid-ul-fitr? Check Moon Sighted Details Here
As the holy month of Ramadan nears its end, Muslims worldwide are preparing for Eid ul-Fitr 2025, the festival that marks the conclusion of a month-long fast. With the arrival of Alvida Jumma today, March 28, anticipation grows for the official date of Eid, which depends on the sighting of the crescent moon.

When is Eid ul-Fitr 2025?
Ramadan 1446 AH began in India on March 2, 2025, following the crescent moon sighting on March 1. In Saudi Arabia, Ramadan started a day earlier on March 1. Since the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, Eid ul-Fitr will be observed based on the moon sighting.
Eid-ul-Fitr Moon Sighting in India
If the crescent moon is spotted on March 30, Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated in India on Monday, March 31, 2025. If not, the festival will be observed on April 1. Typically, India follows Saudi Arabia by a day, as the crescent moon is usually sighted there first.
Eid ul-Fitr Moon Sighting in Saudi Arabia
In Saudi Arabia, the moon sighting is expected on March 29. If the crescent appears, Eid will be celebrated on March 30. Otherwise, it will be marked on March 31, meaning India and other neighboring countries will observe Eid on April 1.
When is Eid ul-Fitr in the US, UK, UAE, and Other Countries?
Countries like the US, UK, France, and Germany follow Saudi Arabia's moon sighting announcements. The crescent moon of Shawwal is expected to be sighted on either the 29th or 30th day of Ramadan, determining Eid's date in these regions.
Eid ul-Fitr in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan
India's neighboring countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, usually observe Ramadan a day later than the Middle East. If the moon is sighted on March 30 in India, these countries will also celebrate Eid on March 31.
Alvida Jumma Prayers Today
Alvida Jumma, the last Friday of Ramadan, holds immense spiritual significance. Muslims worldwide will gather at mosques for special congregational prayers. In Delhi's Jama Masjid, the sermon will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by Jumma Namaz between 1:30 and 2:00 PM. Many mosques accommodate larger gatherings by holding multiple prayer sessions.
As the month-long fasting ends, Eid ul-Fitr 2025 will be celebrated with joy and enthusiasm worldwide on either March 30 or 31, depending on the moon sighting.
