Ramadan 1446 AH began in India on March 2, 2025, following the crescent moon sighting on March 1. In Saudi Arabia, Ramadan started a day earlier on March 1. Since the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, Eid ul-Fitr will be observed based on the moon sighting.

If the crescent moon is spotted on March 30, Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated in India on Monday, March 31, 2025. If not, the festival will be observed on April 1. Typically, India follows Saudi Arabia by a day, as the crescent moon is usually sighted there first.

In Saudi Arabia, the moon sighting is expected on March 29. If the crescent appears, Eid will be celebrated on March 30. Otherwise, it will be marked on March 31, meaning India and other neighboring countries will observe Eid on April 1.

When is Eid ul-Fitr in the US, UK, UAE, and Other Countries?

Countries like the US, UK, France, and Germany follow Saudi Arabia's moon sighting announcements. The crescent moon of Shawwal is expected to be sighted on either the 29th or 30th day of Ramadan, determining Eid's date in these regions.

Eid ul-Fitr in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan

India's neighboring countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, usually observe Ramadan a day later than the Middle East. If the moon is sighted on March 30 in India, these countries will also celebrate Eid on March 31.

Alvida Jumma Prayers Today

Alvida Jumma, the last Friday of Ramadan, holds immense spiritual significance. Muslims worldwide will gather at mosques for special congregational prayers.
