ED Raids Locations Linked to TN Minister KN Nehru’s Kin And TVH Group Across Chennai

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday launched a series of raids at multiple locations in Chennai, targeting properties linked to Tamil Nadu Minister K.N. Nehru's family. The searches are being conducted at premises associated with Nehru's brother, Ravi, and his construction firm, the TVH Group.

According to sources, the ED teams are carrying out operations in prominent neighbourhoods such as Alwarpet, Adyar, and Teynampet. The probe is part of an ongoing investigation into suspected financial irregularities.

In addition to Ravi, Minister Nehru's son, Arun Nehru, is also reportedly under the agency's scanner. The raids come amid a broader crackdown by central agencies on individuals linked to political figures in Tamil Nadu.

According to reports, the searches were part of an investigation into a ₹22 crore bank fraud case. The case was filed based on a complaint by Indian Overseas Bank against Truedom EPC Limited, a company where KN Nehru's brother, N Ravichandran, serves as a director.

The raids come shortly after a similar ED operation in Chennai on Friday targeting Sree Gokulam Chits, a chit fund company owned by AM Gopalan, popularly known as Gokulam Gopalan. Gopalan is one of the producers of Empuraan, a Malayalam film that drew controversy for its portrayal of the Gujarat riots and the role of right-wing groups.

In a related development, Empuraan director and actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has received an Income Tax notice seeking clarification on his earnings from three films released in 2022-Jana Gana Mana, Gold, and Kaduva. He has been asked to respond to the notice by April 29.
