Election Commission Approves Transfer Of AAP Leader Awadh Ojha's Voter ID To Delhi For Upcoming Elections
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved the transfer of AAP leader Awadh Ojha's voter registration from Greater Noida to Delhi. This move allows him to file his nomination for the Patparganj seat, according to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal. The decision followed a meeting between AAP representatives, led by Kejriwal, and ECI officials.

Earlier, Kejriwal accused the electoral process of irregularities, stating that Ojha had submitted Form 8 for vote transfer on January 7, which was the official deadline. He alleged that the Delhi chief electoral officer unlawfully moved the deadline to January 6, aiming to prevent Ojha from contesting the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections.
Allegations Against BJP
Kejriwal also made serious accusations against BJP's candidate from New Delhi, Parvesh Verma. He claimed Verma distributed cash, jackets, and other items like bedsheets and shoes to influence voters. Kejriwal alleged local authorities were involved in covering up these actions.
In response to these allegations, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of maligning poll authorities due to desperation over a potential defeat. Sachdeva questioned why Ojha's vote transfer was delayed until the last date if he joined AAP on December 2 and was set to contest elections.
Electoral Roll Manipulation Claims
Kejriwal reiterated claims of manipulation in the New Delhi constituency's electoral roll, where he seeks reelection. The New Delhi District Election Officer (DEO) responded on X, stating that applications for adding or deleting electors are scrutinised thoroughly under ECI norms.
The DEO also addressed allegations about distributing items like bed sheets and shoes in broad daylight. They stated that no credible evidence or witness testimony has been provided to support these claims. The police and Flying Squad Team are actively monitoring the situation around the clock.
Monitoring and Complaints
The DEO noted that police complaints are filed whenever violations are detected. Citizens are encouraged to report any breaches of the Model Code of Conduct through the cVigil app. Kejriwal claimed that the Election Commission assured him of appropriate action against the New Delhi DM following these complaints.
"The Election Commission has assured us that all these activities will be stopped. We thank the Election Commission for their prompt response and assurance," Kejriwal stated. He further requested the suspension of the DM and strict action against him.
The political rivalry between AAP and BJP is heating up as both parties exchange allegations with assembly polls in Delhi approaching soon.
