Ebola Alert: Travellers Isolated In Durg, Hyderabad And Jaipur, All Test Negative

India has stepped up health surveillance measures after several travellers arriving from Ebola-affected African nations were isolated and tested for the virus in different parts of the country. Authorities have confirmed that all recent suspected cases have tested negative, providing relief amid heightened global concern over Ebola outbreaks in parts of Africa.

Chhattisgarh Places Three Returnees Under Precautionary Quarantine

In Chhattisgarh, three individuals who recently returned from African countries affected by Ebola were placed under quarantine in Durg district as a precautionary step. Health officials initiated monitoring protocols soon after their arrival in India and collected samples for laboratory testing.

State Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said authorities were closely tracking the health status of the returnees and monitoring their contacts. Officials clarified that the quarantine was part of standard preventive measures and that no Ebola infection had been confirmed in the state.

The move reflects the government's efforts to maintain strict vigilance against any possible importation of the disease while ensuring early detection of potential cases.

Hyderabad Cases Ruled Out After Laboratory Tests

In Hyderabad, concerns arose after a Sudanese national receiving treatment at a private hospital showed symptoms that prompted Ebola screening. Following isolation and medical evaluation under established public health guidelines, laboratory reports confirmed that the patient was not infected with the virus.

The development follows another recent case involving a Sudanese national in the city whose test results had also returned negative.

Health authorities emphasised that despite the suspected cases, no Ebola infections have been detected in Hyderabad, and all necessary precautions continue to be followed for international travellers arriving from affected regions.

Jaipur Woman Under Observation Despite Negative Result

A similar situation unfolded in Jaipur, where a woman from Uganda was admitted to hospital after exhibiting symptoms that raised Ebola-related concerns.

Medical authorities sent her samples to a specialised laboratory in Pune for detailed testing. The results later confirmed that she was not infected with Ebola.

Although she remains under observation, officials stated there is currently no evidence linking her illness to the deadly viral disease.

Authorities Stress Preparedness Amid Global Ebola Concerns

The recent incidents have highlighted India's preparedness framework for responding to infectious disease threats originating abroad. Health departments across several states have enhanced screening procedures at airports, hospitals and other key points of entry, particularly for travellers arriving from countries where Ebola cases have been reported.

Officials have urged citizens to remain calm, stressing that every suspected Ebola case identified in India so far has tested negative.

Ebola is a serious viral disease transmitted through direct contact with the bodily fluids of infected individuals. Common symptoms include fever, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhoea, while severe cases can lead to internal and external bleeding.

While India has not reported any confirmed Ebola cases, authorities say surveillance and monitoring efforts will continue as a safeguard against the international spread of the virus.
