East Coast Railway forms special squad for Diwali

Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: Ahead of the Diwali, the East Coast Railway has formed a special squad to keep a strict vigil on carrying inflammable such items in trains for the safety of the passengers.

Carrying of inflammable objects like crackers, gas cylinder, acid, petrol, kerosene during train journey was a punishable offence under the Railway Act 1989 and the offender may get an imprisonment up to 3 years, a railway official said.

"Passengers can SMS or call Help Line Number- 8455885777 and 8455885999 to report any incident concerning carrying crackers on train," he said.
