Earthquake of 5.6 magnitude struck Andaman Islands
An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 struck Andaman Islands on Tuesday morning. However, no loss of life/injuries or property has been reported as of now.
The quake stuck at around 8:09 am which had a depth of 10 km below the surface.
However, a 5.6-magnitude quake is considered moderate. While, an earthquake must measure at least 6 on the Richter Scale to be considered strong.
The Andaman and Nicobar islands fall into the "Very Severe Intensity" seismic zone, the fifth in a rubric defined by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
