Early polls in Karnataka: Here is how the Congress plans to fox BJP
The Congress in Karnataka is likely to advance the assembly elections in Karnataka after its spectacular wins in the Gundlupet and Nanjangud by-elections. The party is hoping to capitalise on the wins as it feels that it is in with a good chance following the mammoth wins in the by-elections.

Following the loss, there has been some disarray in the BJP. Moreover the central leadership of the party is unlikely to send a team to Karnataka as they want to put in all their resources for the Gujarat assembly elections to be held in December.
The Congress feels that announcing early polls would surprise the BJP. To time it with the Gujarat elections would fox the BJP. The main team of the BJP would not be able to put in all its resources at a time when it is busy with Gujarat. The party is looking to win big in Gujarat and even cross the 150 mark which would be a record. Only the Congress has touched the 150 mark in Gujarat in the 1990s.
The Congress feels that this would be a good strategy. It feels that Yeddyurappa after the defeats in the by-polls is not capable of leading the party alone to a victory and would rely heavily on central support. With the central team being busy in Gujarat, the Congress feels that it would be best if it advances the elections to sometime in December.
