JJP MLA Challenges Dushyant Chautala's 'Family Party' Perspective

In a surprising turn of events within the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) in Haryana, MLA and former state minister Devender Singh Babli openly criticized party leader Dushyant Chautala. Babli's critique comes at a critical time when Chautala has approached the Haryana Governor, advocating for a floor test against the Nayab Singh Saini government, alleging it lacks majority support. This internal discord highlights significant tensions within the JJP, a party that had initially opposed the BJP but later formed an alliance with it in 2019.

JJP MLA Critiques Party Leadership

Babli voiced his discontent on Friday, stressing that the party should not be treated as a personal family venture by Chautala. He pointed out that the decision to challenge the current government's majority was made without consulting other MLAs, undermining the democratic ethos of the party. "We elected Dushyant Chautala as leader of the party legislature group. Parties work according to a democratic system," Babli stated, emphasizing the need for collective decision-making.

The contention arises amidst a backdrop of political shifts in Haryana. The JJP's alliance with the BJP saw a change in March when Manohar Lal Khattar was replaced by Nayab Singh Saini as chief minister. Babli criticized Chautala's leadership style, accusing him of dictatorial tendencies and failing to retain key party members, including the Haryana unit chief Nishan Singh.

Further complicating matters, JJP MLA from Julana, Amarjeet Dhanda, condemned Babli's remarks and accused him of altering his allegiance due to personal ambitions. "Babli is changing his allegiance and ideology out of greed," Dhanda remarked, highlighting the internal strife within the party.

This political turmoil coincides with three Independents withdrawing their support from the Nayab Singh Saini government earlier this week. The opposition has seized upon this development, claiming that the BJP-led government is now in a minority and has called for its dismissal and the imposition of President's rule until new elections can be held.

The unfolding scenario in Haryana presents a complex picture of political alliances and internal party dynamics. As the JJP grapples with dissent among its ranks, the future of the state's political landscape remains uncertain. The call for a floor test by Chautala, coupled with Babli's public dissent and allegations of leadership failure, underscores the challenges facing the party as it navigates its role within Haryana's governance.
