DU prof GN Saibaba convicted under UAPA act
Saibaba was arrested on May 9, 2014, from his Delhi residence on the basis of the alleged incriminating material recovered from him.
A Gadchiroli court on Tuesday convicted Delhi University professor G N Saibaba for having alleged link with the Maoists, said reports.
The wheelchair-bound Professor of English has been convicted along with five others under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Saibaba was arrested on May 9, 2014, from his Delhi residence on the basis of the alleged incriminating material recovered from him. The police had reportedly claimed to have recovered documents, pen drives and hard disks which point towards his link with the banned outfit.
Last year, he was granted bail by the Supreme Court on medical grounds. The counsel for the Maharashtra government had opposed the bail, saying that Saibaba would propagate Maoist views if set free. The apex court had quashed these claims and granted bail to the wheelchair-bound professor.
Saibaba had said that actions against him were attempts to frighten those standing up for common people.
