Lawmaker turns lawbreaker: Drunk Delhi cop rapes friend's maid, arrested

New Delhi, Jul 11 : In a shocking incident, an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Delhi has been arrested for allegedly raping his friend's domestic help.

ASI Javeer Singh who was posted at Punjabi Bagh police station in West Delhi, went to his friend's place on Thursday night and allegedly raped his maid (23), under the influence of alcohol.

As per reports, the 23-year-old woman was raped by him at gunpoint.

The woman approached the police yesterday following which she was sent for medical examination which confirmed rape, a police official said.

An FIR has been registered against the accused at Rani Bagh police station.

The cop was arrested and produced before the court yesterday which remanded him to 14-days judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashish Khetan said, "We demand BS Bassi's resignation over this matter."

While his resignation was demanded by AAP, BS Bassi, Delhi Police Commissioner told ANI, "Any such act by any police officer will not be condoned and strictest action will be taken. He has been arrested, chargesheet will be filed as soon as possible and he will be dismissed."

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh also said that proper action will be taken in the case.
