Don't Mark Your Calendars Yet: Lok Sabha Election Dates Are Likely To Be Announced After Mar 9
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to announce the dates of Lok Sabha polls 2024 and state assembly elections of some states after March 9, News18 reported citing sources.
At this stage, the top officials from the polling body are conducting final checks. The elections are expected to be held in April and May.

With the Lok Sabha elections of 2024 and simultaneous Assembly polls in various states draw near, a team of officials from the Election Commission of India (ECI) are making back-to-back visits to the states, these days, the report adds.
Sources told the website that the ECI representatives are scheduled to meet with government officials on March 8-9 to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and assess the availability of forces.
"The all will depend on the availability of forces," the sources added.
The scheduled visit by election commission officials to various states suggests that the election calendar for 2024 may be similar to that of 2019. In the year 2019, the Lok Sabha elections were declared on March 10.
The voting was conducted in seven stages from April 11 to May 19, with vote counting taking place on May 23.
On the other hand, all the leading parties have already started preparations for the Lok Sabha elections. Many parties have announced candidates for some seats even as the talks of alliances are in progress among the parties.
Narendra Modi-led BJP is hoping to secure its third term at office and the Prime Minister has said that the ruling party will win 370 seats in the general elections 2024.
