Don't use "Mann ki Baat' in movie: Censor boards directs

The CBFC is once again in the news for all the wrong reasons. Several film makers have termed the CBFC as a 'sanskari board.'

The Centra Board for Film Certification has directed a movie maker to mute the phrase "mann ki baat" in his film. The examining committee of the board asked Ahmedabad-based filmmaker Dakxinkumar Bajrange (Chhara) not to use the phrase in his movie Sameer as it is the name of the Prime Minister's radio show.

Don't use

While listing the reasons for giving the movie an 'A' certificate, the board which made seven cuts said, " delete the dialogue 'Mann KI Baat.' The director pointed out that he approached the CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani and told him that there is no mention of a radio show. He told me to re-dub that portion of the film as 'tann ki baat.'

The director said that this is one of the several arbitrary changes suggested by the CBFC. It is a suspense film in the backdrop of three terror attacks he said while also adding that he had been told to tone down a blast scene as well. He would now apply to the revising committee.
