Doctor kidnapped by Ola cabbie in Delhi rescued in dramatic fashion

A doctor who was abducted while traveling in an OLA cab earlier this month was rescued in a dramatic fashion. The doctor was abducted 14 days back by the cabbie and his associates. Interestingly the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore not from the doctor, but from Ola.

Nearly 200 personnel of the Delhi police were deployed to crack this case. On Wednesday the four kidnappers were finally arrested by the police. In the run up to the cracking of the case, there were at least two encounters with the accused persons. The police say that 5 others involved in this case are still absconding.

Srikanth Goud, a resident of Hyderabad works at a private hospital in Delhi. He had booked the cab on July 6 while returning from a party at Noida.

The doctor's friend dropped him at Preet Vihar following which he booked the cab. He found something fishy when the cab took a u-turn and headed towards Noida. When he asked the cabbie about the same, he was told to remain silent failing which he would be killed.

The kidnappers then called the Ola call centre and demanded the ransom on July 7. They made another call to the hospital and told a nurse that they wanted to teach Ola a lesson. Meanwhile the gang kept changing locations. They even used the doctor's mobile to evade being tracked.

On Wednesday the cops tracked the kidnappers down. There was an encounter that took place at Shatabdi Nagar at Meerut. There were at least four rounds exchanged during the encounter. Finally the police managed to prevail over the kidnappers and arrested them.
