DMK seeks assembly session to discuss fishermen, other issues
DMK Treasurer and the party's floor leader in the Assembly, M K Stalin said there were many pressing issues in the state which needed to be discussed and noted that the Winter Session usually convened in October, has not been done so far. Referring to the capital punishment awarded to the five fishermen, in a statement here he said political parties and others alike were holding protests while fishermen in 13 districts had struck work on Thursday even as Centre was preparing to go for an appeal.
"Therefore, in this situation, the Tamil Nadu Assembly should be convened immediately and a resolution should be adopted seeking that the lives of the fishermen be saved," he said. Other issues like milk price hike and the proposed power tariff revision should also be discussed, he added.
