DK Shivakumar Supports Rahul Gandhi In Rae Bareli Campaign

DK Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), has arrived in Rae Bareli. He is there to support the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi. Shivakumar has often helped the Congress and the Gandhi family during tough times.

Shivakumar has been a strong supporter for the Congress and the Gandhi family. From Gujarat to Hyderabad and Bengaluru to Shimla, he has used his influence to help the party. His efforts have often saved the party from difficult situations.

Rahul Gandhi is running for the Lok Sabha elections from Rae Bareli, a seat previously held by his mother, Sonia Gandhi. He is also a candidate from Wayanad in Kerala. Rahul declared his candidacy from Rae Bareli on the last day of filing nominations.

"I am going to Rae Bareli for the election campaign in Uttar Pradesh. I will not be in Bengaluru for two days. I am leaving today," said Shivakumar on Tuesday.

Shivakumar also announced that he will not celebrate his birthday today, May 15, 2024. He requested that no one should come to his residence for any kind of celebration.

The Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat is known as a Congress stronghold. Rahul Gandhi's grandfather Feroze Gandhi and grandmother Indira Gandhi have also represented this constituency. However, Sonia Gandhi's performance has been declining in recent elections, leading her to join the Rajya Sabha.

The Congress does not want to repeat its mistake from Amethi in Rae Bareli. DK Shivakumar's presence for Rahul's campaign shows that the party is serious about not underestimating the BJP in Rae Bareli.

Shivakumar has a strong track record with the Congress. During Ahmed Patel's Rajya Sabha election, he kept Congress MLAs from Gujarat at his farmhouse in Bengaluru until voting day, ensuring Patel's victory.

In Telangana, when exit polls predicted a hung assembly last November, Shivakumar was sent to Hyderabad to keep Congress MLAs safe. Earlier this year, when Abhishek Manu Singhvi lost the Rajya Sabha election due to rebellion by Congress MLAs in Himachal Pradesh, Shivakumar was sent to Shimla to help resolve the crisis.

Polling in Rae Bareli will be held on May 20 during the fifth phase of elections. Shivakumar cited severe drought conditions in Karnataka as the reason for not celebrating his birthday.
