D K Shivakumar served fresh summons by IT; brother, aides also asked to appear

D K Shivakumar previously had claimed that he was yet to access the details of items and documents seized during raids

The Income Tax department has issued fresh summons to Karnataka Energy Minister D K Shivakumar. This time, Shivakumar's brother and Congress MP D K Suresh, the minister's kin as well as aides have been asked to appear.

Congress leader Shivakumar has been asked to appear for another round of questioning on Thursday. The department is said to have collected information on bank accounts and transactions of all those searched in connection with raids on D K Shivakumar. Apart from D K Suresh, Shivakumar's father-in-law Thimmayya from Mysuru, MLC S Ravi, owner of Sharma travels Sunil Kumar Sharma, businessman and aide Sachin Narayan and astrologer Dwarakanath have been issued notices. They have all been asked to appear for questioning in person.

Apart from scrutinising accounts of companies owned by and linked to D K Shivakumar, the officials are said to have cross verified account details of every individual summoned for questioning. Properties and financial dealings of every family member are currently under the scanner.

D K Shivakumar had appeared before the officials on Monday and was grilled for almost three hours. Speaking to the media after the questioning, Shivakumar had said that his attorney was in the process of accessing the panchnama, a document that details documents and items seized after raids. Searches in connection with raids on D K Shivakumar were conducted in more than 60 places across Karnataka and New Delhi.
