DK Ravi case: Personal reason not the only cause for death

Bengaluru, May 21: The Central Bureau of Investigation is verifying a couple of calls that IAS officer got a day before he allegedly committed suicide. He appeared distressed after he got the calls, CBI officials have learnt.

The CBI however prima facie feels that the reason for the alleged suicide could be more than personal. While the state of Karnataka tried to paint a picture that he committed suicide due to personal reasons, the CBI has cast doubts on the same and says that there is more to it. Four calls that DK Ravi got:

The CBI is probing into the four calls Ravi got a day before he died. He appeared to be distressed the CBI has learnt. These calls are key to the probe as this could have led to him committing suicide the CBI feels. [DK Ravi case: BJP slams "dirty tricks" of Karnataka govt]

The CBI also points out that there are several angles that are under probe. ‎While the call to his batchmate is under verification the investigators have learnt that during that conversation he had said that he was distressed.

ED to join probe:

The Enforcement Directorate is likely to join the probe soon. Some of the financial transactions involving a real estate firm called R and H Properties is under the scanner. If this firm was indeed run by Ravi or was he just a proxy is what the ED would make clear while probing the financial transactions.

The other question that is being considered is whether Ravi was running the firm or was he a proxy? These are the next steps in the probe a CBI official also informed.
