Disturbing Video Of Manipur Man Being Burnt Alive Goes Viral; INDIA Alliance Slams Govt

In yet another disturbing incident, a video of a man being burnt alive in Manipur has hit the internet. However, this is not a clip from the latest incident and it looks like a five-month-old video.

On October 8, a seven-second video labeled "Kuki" was doing rounds across various WhatsApp groups in Manipur, according to a report in The Hindu.

Disturbing Video Of Manipur Man Being Burnt Alive Goes Viral; INDIA Alliance Slams Govt

The video depicted a man dressed in a black T-shirt and camouflage trousers, lying in a trench. The individual's face appeared to be severely injured, and the body was engulfed in flames. Whether the man was subjected to being burned alive remains unclear.

However, the Manipur government has not provided official confirmation regarding the incident. However, Chief Minister N Biren Singh refuted the claims made by tribal groups.

A Kuki-Zo spokesperson mentioned their ongoing efforts to ascertain the victim's identity, as there were allegations suggesting that five or six individuals from the community might have been burned alive during the violence that broke out in May.

On the other hand, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) has slammed the government after the fresh video went viral

"This is from Manipur!! Kuki tribal youth burnt alive in Manipur, The incident of passing away is extremely sad and shameful. Modi ji is expressing sorrow about the neighboring country but failed to Save Manipur..," the INDIA said on X.

Responding to the clip, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said, "In yet another horrific video emerging from Manipur, the body of a tribal man is seen being set on fire in a trench. A police official said the video appeared to be from early May. The tragedy of Manipur is still not discussed&addressed. Priorities," she wrote on X.

More than 180 people lost their lives and several hundreds were injured since the ethnic clashes broke out in Manipur on May 3, after a 'Tribal Solidarity March' was organised in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe status.

It may be recalled that a video of a woman being paraded naked by a mob had surfaced in July.
