Director Srijit Mukherji meets with an accident

Kolkata, May 6: Srijit Mukherjee, an Indian film maker of Bengali origin is reported to have met with an accident in Delhi and hurt his ankle very badly.

He is being treated at the AIIMS hospital and has undergone a surgery of 3-4 hours. Sources say that he is stable now and would be out of work for the next few months.

The incident happened late on Tuesday night when he was travelling by an autorickshaw, which overturned.

1977 born, Srijit is known for his Bengali films like Autograph, Baishe Srabon, Hemlock Society, Mishawr Rawhoshyo, Jaatishwar and Chotushkone. His fifth film Jaatishwar is critically acclaimed and has won 4 national awards at 61st National Film Awards.

He has won the National Film Award for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for his sixth film Chotushkone at India's 62nd National Film Awards.
