Denied Ticket From BJP, Varun Gandhi Gets Offer To Join Congress

Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday said Varun Gandhi is "most welcome" to join the grand old party, instead of contesting elections independently. BJP denied a ticket to its sitting MP Varun Gandhi this time from Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit, after which, he announced that he would contest polls no matter what. Following the sequence, Congress is now trying to woo the popular leader and add him to its kitty.

This time, BJP has field state minister Jitin Prasada from Pilibhit to contest the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Reports said the saffron front has taken action against Varun Gandhi for his continuous statements against his own party and party leaders in the last couple of years.

Varun Gandhi Gets Offer To Join Congress

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury slammed the BJP stating that Varun Gandhi was denied a ticket because he has a 'connection with the Gandhi family'.

"He should come here. We would be happy. He is an educated man. He has a clean image. BJP denied him a ticket because he is related to the Gandhi family. I think he should come (to Congress)," Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said.

Varun Gandhi constantly has been winning the Lok Sabha elections since his debut in 2009. At that time, he emerged victorious by 4.19 lakh votes. Gandhi continued his political dominance in 2014 and 2019 also, but this time he might have to struggle a bit as BJP has denied ticket to him.

Speculation suggested that if Varun Gandhi decided to contest the election independently, then Congress and the Samajwadi Party may support him. However, no official statement has been made by any party or Varun Gandhi himself.
