DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma Directs Police to Maintain Comprehensive Gangster List for PSA Enforcement

Deputy Inspector General Shiv Kumar Sharma has called for stringent measures against gangsters and anti-social elements. He instructed police officials to compile a detailed list of gangsters for booking under the Public Safety Act (PSA). The DIG also urged a crackdown on vehicles with illegal modifications, such as tinted windows and those used for criminal activities.

Police Directed to Keep Gangster List for PSA

Sharma stressed the importance of community involvement in combating crime. He encouraged parents, civil society, and responsible citizens to help the police raise awareness about the threats posed by criminals. Such efforts are vital for maintaining peace in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts.

Focus on Illegal Activities

During a high-level meeting, Sharma reviewed the activities of gangsters in Jammu, Kathua, and Samba. He urged officers to adopt special measures to dismantle these networks. The DIG directed officials to identify and seize properties acquired through illegal means like extortion and land grabbing.

He also instructed officers to intensify operations against vehicles with illegal modifications. Legal action should be taken against individuals using vehicles for unlawful purposes. Immediate registration of cases against land grabbers and extortionists was also emphasized.

Security Measures for Republic Day

The DIG reviewed security arrangements ahead of Republic Day during the meeting. He highlighted the need for meticulous planning to address potential threats. Officers were directed to strengthen checkpoints, especially in border areas during late-night and early-morning hours.

Sharma emphasised maintaining close coordination with intelligence agencies, the Army, paramilitary forces, and other central agencies. Officers were instructed to share intelligence inputs in real time for effective security management.

Monitoring Criminal Networks

The DIG directed officials to monitor the support systems of criminals, including relatives and associates who provide shelter or assistance. Legal action should be taken against them as well. This approach aims to dismantle the networks supporting criminal activities.

Sharma also called for strict action against individuals possessing illegal weapons and land grabbers operating in the region. These measures are part of a broader strategy to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order.

The meeting underscored the importance of community involvement in tackling crime. By working together with law enforcement, citizens can play a crucial role in ensuring safety and security in their communities.
