The rift in the JD(U) seems evident now. On Tuesday during the Rajya Sabha elections from Gujarat, JD(U) spokesperson said that the lone MLA had voted for the BJP. However the MLA himself did not make it clear and said he had voted for the nation.

Sharad Yadav who has been sulking ever since Nitish Kumar dumped the RJD and allied with the BJP decided to congratulate Ahmed Patel. The Congress' Ahmed Patel won after a late night drama on Tuesday thanks to the Election Commission of India invalidating two votes.

These developments are being closely watched and there is speculation about a rift within the JD(U). Yadav had been vocal while expressing his unhappiness after the JD(U)-BJP formed the government in Bihar. His congratulatory message has only deepened the mystery if the party is heading for a split.

On Tuesday there was suspense about who the JD(U) MLA had voted for. Tyagi openly declared that the vote was for the BJP. However Chhotubhai Vasava told PTI that he voted for Ahmed Patel as the BJP had done very little for the tribals. Tyagi's statements were however countered by Ambalal Jadhav, the JD(U)'s general secretary in Gujarat. Who is Tyagi to say anything. Our support is Ahmed Patel, he also said.
