Did Prashant Kishor's Predictions For Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Turn True?

Most of the exit poll predictions for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections have fallen flat as the BJP failed to cross 300-seat mark.

Going by the trends, the BJP is likely to get less than 250 seats although the NDA has a comfortable majority in the 545-member Lok Sabha.

Prashant Kishor

Among the many surveys and predictions, one notable forecast came from political strategist Prashant Kishor.

What did he predict?

In several interviews, Kishore asserted that the BJP would secure more seats than it did in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

In one of the interviews, he stated, "In all likelihood, the BJP will make a strong comeback, improving their electoral tally." He specifically pointed out the party's strength in the West and North regions, foreseeing minimal impact on their prospects. Also, Kishor noted a surge in the BJP's voter share and seat count in the East and South.

However, Kishor declined to delve into state-wise predictions. Despite his positive outlook for the BJP, he remarked that the Modi brand has experienced a decline, with its influence waning.

Reality Check

Well, the trend clearly states that the BJP is not touching 300-mark. On its own, it is struggle at 244. The seats of its allies take the NDA total to 295.

In short, Yogendra Yadav's predictions have come true.

Yadav's analysis indicated potential challenges for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in securing a decisive victory. He suggested that the BJP alone may struggle to exceed 260 seats and could find it "impossible" to reach the 300-seat mark.

However, he had claimed that the Congress would bag between 120-135 seats. In the end, the Congress is expected to reach around 100.
