With the opposition planning to bring a no-confidence motion against his government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reply to such a motion in 2018 has gone viral wherein he mockingly tells the parties behind it that they should prepare to table a similar exercise in 2023 as well.

''I want to extend my best wishes to all of you, that you prepare so thoroughly that you get the opportunity to bring another no-confidence motion in 2023,'' he quipped during his response in Lok Sabha to the no-confidence motion in 2018.

Government sources have shared this particular part of Modi's speech to highlight what they view as his "prediction."

Addressing an opposition member, Modi attributed the fall in the Congress' tally from over 400 seats to nearly 40 in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls to their arrogance. He contrasted this with the BJP's rise from just two seats to eventually winning power on its own, which he attributed to their spirit of service.
