Dhanteras 2017: Kashi Annapurna temple opens for devotees
Once a year, this temple is opened for devotees on Dhanteras. On October 17, the locks of the temple will be opened for the worship and the grand 'aarti'. The temple will be closed
Dhanteras 2017 has begun with offering prayers to Goddess Annapurna in Varanasi. Devotees who arrive in Kashi from across India and abroad as well, first of all, take the blessings of Annapurna. The golden idol of the goddess is situated in the Annapurna temple near Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Once a year, this temple is opened for devotees on Dhanteras. On October 17, the locks of the temple will be opened for the worship and the grand 'aarti'. The temple will be closed from 12 noon to 12.30 pm for the 'Bhoga Aarti'. After, the temple will be opened 11 o'clock in the night.
In view of the crowd of lakhs of devotees, arrangements have been made after several rounds of talks with administration and temple management.
A kilometre-long barricade has been erected to control the crowd. Mahant Rameshwar Puri Maharaj of the temple informed that the elderly and the physically-challenged will be given easy access to the Annapurna temple. Assistants have been deployed for the service.
For VIPs, the time of darshan has been fixed at 5pm to 7pm.
