Devyani Khobragade to serve Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, July 31: The controversial IFS officer, Devyani Khobragade who was arrested by US law enforcement for making false statements on a visa application for her housekeeper has been appointed Director (state governments) in the ministry of external affairs in charge of Kerala.
Devyani who is 1999 batch IFS officer will use her expertise in portraying Kerala's economic interests to foreign countries.

She will have to help state in solving the problems Malayali workers face in Gulf countries.
She had already conveyed to Chief Minister Oomen Chandy and NoRKA officials her interest in taking the charge of the state.
Devyani hit the headlines with her arrest by the US law enforcement for making false statements on her visa application for her maid. She paid her housekeeper $3.99 per hour, though a minimum legal wage was promised.
Devyani underwent body-cavity test, which lead to a major diplomatic issue between India and the United States.
