Kumar was in the limelight it was revealed that his assets grew exponentially between 2007 and 2014.
Chief of Bahujan Samaj Party Mayawati on Friday inducted her brother Anand Kumar into the party. Anand Kumar, a businessman who is currently under the Income tax Department's scanner for dubious transactions was also appointed as Bahujan Samaj Party's national vice president.

Kumar's induction into the party and direct appointment to the vice president's post comes at a time when the IT Department is probing him and his aides for allegedly running shell companies. Kumar shot into the limelight when RTI queries revealed that his assets grew exponentially between 2007 and 2014.
During the period that Mayawati was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, his net worth grew from nearly Rs 7.5 crore to Rs 1,316 crore in the period. A paper trail accessed by the media unearthed the shell companies allegedly associated with Kumar. It may be recalled that ahead of the Uttar Pradesh polls, Mayawati had claimed that the party will not support dynasty politics but with Kumar's appointment, Mayawati has put her brother second-in-command for the party.
