Depression crosses coast in Odisha, more showers likely

Heavy rains lashed many parts of Odisha due to a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal.

Earlier on Thursday, the meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar said,''Heavy to very heavy rain and thundershowers will continue to occur at a few places in southern and coastal Odisha and heavy rain at interior districts for the next 24 hours".''

It said strong and gusty surface winds, reaching up to 65 kilometres per hour will blow along the coast.

The MeT department also said, sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
