Demonetisation- Karnataka, West Bengal get highest deposits in Jan Dhan accounts
Rs 21,000 crore has been deposited in Jan Dhan accounts since November 10 when banks were thrown open for transaction post the demonetisation announcement
According to a government source about Rs 21,000 crore has been deposited in Jan Dhan accounts across the courty. The sudden spike in deposits is being viewed as an effect of demonetisation move by the Modi government.

Sources in the government also added that the highest deposits have come from West Bengal and Karnataka. Rs 21,000 crore has been deposited in Jan Dhan accounts since November 10 when banks were thrown open for transaction post the demonetisation announcement on November 8.

As on November 9, a day before banks started post-demonetisation transaction, the total amount across all Jan Dhan accounts stood at Rs 45636.61 according to Government's official record from Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana website. Within a span of 13 days Rs 21,000 has been deposited to the very same accounts.
