New Delhi, Nov 14: The India International Trade Fair (IITF), which began here today, has 18 ATM kiosks set up by different banks this time to alleviate cash shortage faced by visitors after government's move to scrap higher denomination notes.
The decision to set up more ATMs was taken on November 9, a day after government's move to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes by withdrawing their status of legal tender, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) CMD L C Goyal told PTI.
The ITPO is the organiser of the mega trade fair, being held here from November 14-27. Last year, seven ATM kiosks were set up by various banks at the trade fair.
Opposition's criticism of demonetization has exposed them: Amit Shah
There are 18 ATM kiosks set up by various banks in this year's edition, Goyal said. Addressing the IITF inauguration ceremony, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also appreciated the ITPO for making efforts to set up extra ATM kiosks at the fair "to assure that payments here do not suffer for want of cash".
