Demand for a separate Jammu: Agitation starts tomorrow
Carving out Jammu from Kashmir has been a long standing demand. It is alleged that the people of Jammu are being discriminated.
Starting April a massive agitation would be launched demanding that Jammu be separated from Kashmir. The agitation would demand a separate Jammu on the ground that this was the only way to end the discrimination.

The agitation will be launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party. Demonstrations would be held at every block throughout the province the party has indicated. The decision was taken by the party last week, its leader Balwant Singh said.
The people of Jammu have been discriminated against since the past 70 years. The only way to end this discrimination was to carve out a separate Jammu, Singh also said. He said that a classic case of discrimination was the number of seats being allotted to the people of Jammu for the PG courses in medical colleges. He said that only 17 seats in PG courses in medical colleges were being allotted to the people of Jammu and this is discriminatory in nature.
