In a shocking incident, a woman from Darjeeling, West Bengal, was allegedly raped and subjected to brutal torture by her friend in Delhi. The accused, identified as Paras, 28, has been arrested and charged with rape, sodomy, and causing hurt.

Rescue and Medical Attention
The incident came to light on January 30 when the Neb Sarai police station received a distress call reporting a woman being beaten by her husband. A police team promptly arrived at the scene, rescued the victim, and rushed her to AIIMS for medical treatment. The woman had sustained approximately 20 injury marks on her body and was recently discharged from the hospital.
Friendship Turned Nightmare
According to the police investigation, the victim met Paras over the phone and had been in touch with him for the past 3-4 months. She was supposed to travel to Bengaluru for a job as a housemaid but decided to make a stopover in Delhi to meet Paras. Paras convinced her to stay with him in a rented accommodation in Raju Park, promising to help her find a job.
Unfolding Horror
However, the situation took a nightmarish turn as Paras allegedly began physically abusing and sexually assaulting the victim for a week. In one horrifying instance, he even poured hot dal lentils on her, causing severe burn injuries.
Legal Action and Investigation
Based on the victim's complaint, the police registered an FIR on January 30 under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, sodomy, and causing hurt. Paras, who hails from Uttarakhand and worked as a cook in Delhi, was apprehended on February 2. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
This deeply disturbing case highlights the urgent need to address violence against women and ensure the safety of individuals in our society. The authorities must take swift and decisive action to bring justice to the victim and prevent such heinous crimes from occurring in the future.
